ELCA Deacons – Are You Looking For A Preaching Course?

Wartburg Theological Seminary is offering a specialized three-day continuing education certificate course focused on preaching.  The course is designed to provide deacons space and time to think critically about theological and ecclesiological stewarding the proclamation of the Word and to practice the craft of preaching in a collegial environment. The course will be taught by Professor Samuel Giere, Professor of Homiletics and Biblical Interpretation.

This course will take place as a live event using Zoom web conferencing, starting with the afternoon of Tuesday, June 8, and concluding by noon on Thursday, June 10.

Costs are $230 for the certificate course tuition.

CEU credit for 1.2 units (based on 10 contact hours per unit) can be awarded upon completion for those who need credit.

To express interest in the course and to receive further instructions on how to apply as a student, please e-mail the Wartburg Seminary Registrar at registrar@wartburgseminary.edu, with the subject line “June 2021 Deacon Preaching Course.” Registration will be limited to 9 students, and will close by approximately May 1, as it could take several weeks for a new student admissions application to be processed completely prior to the start of the course.
