As we are a learning community dispersed throughout the United States, this week on campus at the start of each semester is an important time of worship, connection, and learning. In this time together we develop community norms, meet accreditation requirements, establish rhythms of our shared life together, are introduced to our courses, have time in-person with our classmates, attend trainings and information sessions that will fuel our semester, and so much more. It is an engaging week full of energy and community, and we are thrilled that we’ll once again be in-person for this time! We come to this time with great joy, ready to welcome students home to the castle.
Here are some of the highlights of Fall 2022 Prolog Week:
- New Student Orientation
- Opening Worship and President’s Reception
- Morning and afternoon classes: two hour deep-dive sessions that introduce each course’s particular focus in areas of theology, Biblical interpretation, ethics, church history, leadership, worship, and more
- Daily chapel and community time
- Formal and social gatherings to connect with classmates, faculty, and staff
- Opportunities to learn about aspects of the WTS life together, including contextual education, candidacy, class elections, and important groups
Evenings hold space for relaxation, socialization, celebration:
- Thursday evening is the big community cookout and celebration, followed by on-campus Beer and Theology (a WTS tradition)
- The other evenings are intentionally kept open for impromptu campfires, dinners out, and other adventures. During prolog week, WTS students create a culture where people easily invite and join in
