To access the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), Wartburg Theological Seminary signed and submitted to the Department of Education a certification affirming the university will distribute no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. The Secretary of Education advises colleges and universities to prioritize students with the greatest need, but also establish a maximum funding threshold for each student to ensure the widest possible distribution of funds.
Wartburg Theological Seminary has decided to award 100% of HEERF dollars to students.
At Wartburg Theological Seminary, $34,289 has been allocated to assist students through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. Thirty-five WTS students met the minimum federally established eligibility criteria. $34,289 has been awarded to these 35 students.
Eligibility Criteria
For consideration, students must meet the following federally established eligibility criteria:
- Must be enrolled in the semester for which the student is requesting aid
- Must be a degree-seeking student
- Must not be enrolled in a fully online program
- Must be an aid applicant that is eligible for Title IV aid
- Must have submitted 2019-2020 FAFSA
- Enrollment was impacted by COVID-19

Students may not receive funding for costs already reimbursed/funded by WTS.
