The Master of Arts in Diaconal Ministry degree program is ideal for those leaders who feel called to serve on the boundaries of church and world seeking to empower, equip, and support through ministry and mission of the church within society. The degree equips leaders in one or more areas of specialization such as education, administration, outreach and evangelism, pastoral care, music and the arts. The Master of Arts in Diaconal Ministry degree is designed to provide education and formation for those called to serve as a Deacon on the Word and Service roster of the ELCA and for similar positions in other denominations. The degree combines academic coursework with the internship that is a requirement of candidacy as a Deacon in the ELCA and other denominations. Normally, students will complete the Master of Arts in Diaconal Ministry degree in two years.

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA is a requirement for admission to our Master of Arts in Diaconal Ministry program, but we do have some exceptions for outstanding candidates who do not have a Bachelor’s degree.
