We are pleased to announce that we have hired Pastor Shannon Witt as our new Learning Management System Administrator. She started her work with us on a part-time basis on November 15th, and she will join us full-time on January 10th, 2022.
Pastor Shannon is a graduate of Wartburg Seminary, and wanted to share these words of greeting with the community:
“In the year 2003 I felt like God picked me up by the scruff of my neck and moved my family and me to Dubuque, Iowa from Valentine, Nebraska and plopped me down into a class called Summer Greek. Prior to discerning a call to rostered ministry, I had been a middle school teacher. My husband, Darryn, was a Federal Game Warden and he and our three children traveled to many beautiful places in the Midwest where he worked with the National Park Service and US Wildlife and Fish Service. I found wonderful teaching positions along the way. However, when he was offered a job on the Mississippi River, I decided to take the leap into seminary. I graduated with my M.Div. in 2007 from Wartburg Seminary and took my first call in the Southeastern Iowa Synod. I recently made the decision to leave parish ministry so I could travel to Longmont, Colorado to be with my daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Casey, as they prepare to have their second child, joining big sister Alice. Baby brother is due sometime in the middle of December. We have two other adult children. Grace is a graphic designer in Denver, Colorado and Eli is stationed with the US Coast Guard in Sitka, Alaska. Darryn has recently retired and is always excited for a new adventure. Thrilled and delighted are two emotions I am feeling about joining the staff at WTS. The church of the future is facing many exciting changes, challenges, and opportunities. I have always been impressed by and passionate about the educational opportunities and mission this seminary has supported. What an honor it will be to work beside and with the faculty, staff and students of WTS!”
We are grateful for the work Pastor Shannon has already begun to do for us, and we look forward to her joining us full-time in January.
Please pray for her and her family as she begins her new role with Wartburg Seminary!
